Shinjuku is one of the most prominent areas of Tokyo, and is centered around Shinjuku station, one of the busiest railway station complexes in the world. To the west of the station is the skyscraper office district, and to the east the infamous and lively entertainment area of Kabukicho. A new department store and restaurant complex has recently been built to the south east of the station, behind which is the very beautiful Shinjuku gyoen gardens (see another gallery here).
