Photographs taken on Hirado island, which is located in Nagasaki prefecture, Kyushu, Japan. The island is connected to Kyushu by bridge, and is well known as one of the locations where 'hidden Christians' took refuge from the persecution by the forces of the Tokugawa Shogunate, between 1570 and 1870 (approximately).
