Yamaga is a small city in Kumamoto prefecture, on Kyushu island, southern Japan. They hold this festival annually, featuring the young women of the city performing traditional dances, dressed in summer yukatas, and wearing illuminated lanterns on their heads. It is part of the annual Obon festivities, where each families dead ancestors are remembered, and honored.
